Center of Enlightenment Committees

At Center of Enlightenment, we believe that religion is about more than just attending services or reading books. It's about finding meaning and purpose in life, connecting with something greater than ourselves, and living with intention and compassion. Whether you're just starting to explore your spirituality or you've been on this journey for years, we invite you to join us and discover all that Center of Enlightenment has to offer. Our community is warm, welcoming, and supportive, and we believe that everyone has something valuable to contribute.

Our Membership Drive is happening now through the first of the year. You can join at any time but this is our annual sign up time. This is our membership renewal letter that has been sent to current members and some past members.

Dear Member or Past-Member;

We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and look forward to a Happy New Year. It is that time of year when we ask you to renew your membership with CoE. The past few years have been challenging, and we have excelled. We are planning many events, classes, and services for 2024 to help you learn, grow, and thrive.

Your membership enabled us to accomplish so much this past year:

• We expanded our technology to include a large monitor and  additional cameras in the Sanctuary, donated by Richard Harrison, that are used while sharing our Sunday Services on Zoom. This equipment will be used in the future for classes, meetings, and special events. Richard also set up a computer workstation in the corner of Fellowship Hall for church business use;
• Thanks to Board Trustee Randy Letwak, we had repairs to the Fellowship Hall, including trim, painting, and lighting. He also replaced some light fixtures outside      and in the foyer. Randy even put up a sturdy handrail on the side of the Sanctuary platform.
• We purchased two bookcases and a cabinet to improve storage in the Fellowship Hall;
• We completely paid off the rest of the loan from Rev. David and Patty Shaw for the sump pump that was installed in June of 2021;
• We presented courses throughout the year, including: 33 Natural Laws, Chakras, and     Discovering Your Guides with Rev. Lisa Argo and Guest Rev. Marie Phillips; 9 Spiritual Principles and Comparative Religion with Rev. David Shaw; and Spiritual Economics with Rev. Carol Willis.
• Rev. Lisa Argo introduced First Saturday Workshops. The topics presented this year      included: Mindful Meditation; Sacred Spaces; and Auras.
• Patty Shaw, a Direct Divine Light Healer and wife of Rev. David Shaw, started a meditation group in October on the second Tuesday of the month. The focus and topics are from the teachings of Barbara Y. Martin and Dimitri Moraitis, leaders of the Spiritual Arts Institute, where Patty has been a student for more than eight years. 
• The Women of Enlightenment met monthly on the second Friday, where they enjoyed      wonderful discussions and activities; 
• And our Third Friday Fundraisers for the year included All Message Nights, Movie Nights, Presentations, and Game Nights.

We’re proud of what we’ve been able to do, and we could not have done it without you!

Please renew your membership with the Membership Renewal Form and return it to the Center of Enlightenment (2724 Goodrich Ave., Ferndale, MI 48220) – Attention: Membership Committee. We would be honored and grateful for your continued membership. There will also be a Membership Renewal Ceremony in February 2024, along with the Installation of the 2024 Board of Directors in January.
